The Adams Arms Gas Piston System is an end user installed aftermarket product for Mil-Spec AR rifles and carbines. It will fit on any AR barrel with a .750" or 3/4" diameter at the shoulder where the front sight base sits.

The Carbine version will work on barrel lengths from 10.5" to 16" that have an existing carbine gas system.
The Mid Length version will work on barrel lengths from 16" to 18" that have an existing mid length gas system.
The Rifle version will work on barrel lengths from 18" to 24" that have an existing rifle gas system.

If you are wondering if an Adams Arms piston system will work on an AR-15 converted to 7.62x39mm, the answer is yes, all day long. I bought a complete upper assembly and then put a Leapers UTG carbine free float forearm on it. They work together perfectly. The gas block on the regular piston system lines up perfectly with the Picatinny rail on the Leapers forearm. Gun ran with no failures. Installation is quick and easy; get an Armorer's wrench. Depending on your lower receiver, you may or may not need to install a heavy duty hammer spring to fire Russian ammo.

I bought this maybe a week ago, it arrived fast as always. I threw this gas piston on my S&W in maybe fifteen minutes and slapped a new muzzle break on and took it to the range with my little brother and convinced him to buy one. This piston is simply awesome, AA made a must have product for any AR owner. Thanks CTD!

I installed this kit installed on my oly. arms plinker plus about 5 months ago. To be stright up with everyone; I waited to put a reveiw for cheaper than dirt for a reason. I beat the heck out of my gun and wanted to see if I could find a flaw in my back yard and on the range first before I really need it if you know what I mean. I really have got to say I will be installing this kit on every AR I get from here on out. It truly turns this style of rifle into a hybrid AR/AK. After 1000+ rounds (not cleaned) I have no wear on the parts and hardly any powder residue in the guts of the gun. This is the best money I have spent on this rifle. (by the way.. my buddies ak47 with the same amount of rounds run throgh it has by far more grime on the internal parts. I know that dosen't really matter for the ak but what does that tell you about the hybrid AR15?) WORTH EVERY BIT OF THE MONEY

I write this as a former Infantry soldier and current Law Enforcement. Had this kit installed in my Bushy and took to the range with co-workers. First I shot 10 to 15 rounds with a slow rate of fire to make sure everything cycled properly. Flawless! I then fired 60 rounds as fast as I could squeeze the trigger. Absolutely Flawless! Performed the "pull the bolt out by hand immediately afterward" trick, my co-workers were blown away. My Sgt, who was a skeptic about AR piston systems, was convinced after all this. This system is fantastic, and a "no brainer" choice for true AR lovers. And I will mention this, you wont find one of these kits anywhere else cheaper. Thanks CTD!

I initially purchased the Adams Arms carbine piston operated upper, and was quite impressed with it's performance. I also own a Stagarms Model 8, an LWRC M6A2, and a DPMS with an Osprey 416. I was able to compare all 4systems. It is far better than my Stag and comparable to my LWRC that cost twice as much.The Osprey 416 was crap compared to all 3. I decided to purchase this piston system and installed it on an AR build. It worked flawlessly. Hands down best bang for the buck!! I have since, returned the Osprey 416 and have 2 Adams Arms piston kits installed on two rifles.
