This is totally solid. You can mount a laser and will not get off zero once you sight it in. It is made of hard aluminum and won't break. It is a little hard to fit in a holster though but should be better when broken in.

I wanted to use this at the firing range before I rated it. I bought this rail for my Kimber 1911 for home protection. It went on rather easy. However, the rail is only mounted to the gun at the trigger guard. After the first shot, the recoil caused my gun to go up and the rail to go down. The rail is still attached to the trigger guard, but now the flashlight attached to the rail is pointing towards the ground. The recoil was too much for the picatinny rail to stay in place. Also, this system will not work with a duty holster.

This is one of the most ill-fitting pieces of junk I've ever bought. Point of aim was foot low @ 15 yds. I went to remove it to mill edges to bring it up and the aluminum screws stripped out @ heads. I am very disappointed. Not ctd's fault.

I bought this one and attached a LED light. I went down to the range and after the first shot the rail fell off, hanging off the trigger guard. I had my local gunsmith reattach it so that it won't fall off anymore. I believe the recoil of my 1911 was too much for it to stay on without any gunsmithing.
