Shot really hot and was pretty smoky, but accurate and inexpensive. Decent ammo, but pretty cheap. Good for plinking. No failures to fire.
4.0 Rating Q4171 FOR PRACTICE - 2/17/2010Ammo .38 Special Winchester USA 130 Grain FMJ Bullet 800 fps 50 Rounds Q41714.0000

I've been using Winchester 130 gr. FMJ 38 special loads (Q4171) for target practice in my 357/38 for more than fifteen years. In this particular revolver I have never had a fail to fire with Q4171 FMJ ammo. At 25 yards this 130 gr. bullet shoots about 3 to 4 inches low in factory-fixed sights revolvers; closer than 25 yards there isn't enough difference to bother about. This round approximates recoil and accuracy of the Federal P38M (now P38MA) rounds I use for self-defense in the same revolver.
5.0 Rating Excellent ammo - 12/16/2009Ammo .38 Special Winchester USA 130 Grain FMJ Bullet 800 fps 50 Rounds Q41715.0000

I use this ammo when I’m training my horses to except gun fire while riding. It’s loud but not as loud as a .357 round so it’s just right for my application. I just wish CTD had more in stock. By the way CTD has the best prices on all their ammo that I’ve seen. Kudos’s to Cheaper Than Dirt!
5.0 Rating Very good target ammo - 5/27/2009Ammo .38 Special Winchester USA 130 Grain FMJ Bullet 800 fps 50 Rounds Q41715.0000

I use this as training ammo in my 2" Taurus M85. Recoil is very managable and makes for good long range sessions. My carry load for that pistol is the Federal 158 SWC +P which I highly recommend. Awsome ballistics and good penetration/expansion. I only wish CTD would carry that load. My girlfriend uses this ammo in my 4" .357Mag for training and has virtually no felt recoil. Very good brass to reload as well.
5.0 Rating Good for Practice! - 4/13/2009Ammo .38 Special Winchester USA 130 Grain FMJ Bullet 800 fps 50 Rounds Q41715.0000

This is what I shoot out of my Taurus M85 2" snubbie for target practice. This ammo is good for people who carry non +P loads for self-defense to get better with their pistol. FMJ ammo has really become the standard practicing round for semi-autos, revolvers, and even rifles. This round is not intended for self-defense or hunting hence the "Target/Range marked on the box. It is very reliable, accurate, and affordable to practice with. In hundreds or more of rounds that I have shot, not one has failed to go "BANG!" And I do not think that a 5 grain difference from a 125 load to a 130 is going to alter accuracy much.
4.0 Rating Winchester .39 Spec. FMJ - 4/3/2009Ammo .38 Special Winchester USA 130 Grain FMJ Bullet 800 fps 50 Rounds Q41714.0000

Two reasons I buy this ammo: 1. I enjoy hearing the loud noise when it is fired, 2. The indoor range where I shoot allows only FMJ solid bullets and no reloads.
1.0 Rating Don't waste $$ - 10/25/2008Ammo .38 Special Winchester USA 130 Grain FMJ Bullet 800 fps 50 Rounds Q41711.0000

I can't fault the quality of Winchester ammo, this load included, but the load itself is worthless for any use I can see. IIRC it was developed to comply with the Geneva Convention, hence the FMC in a revolver round. While in an automatic pistol the FMC might likely enhance reliability when cycling the action, that simply isn't a problem with revolvers. It is a terrible load when it comes to stopping power both for defensive use and hunting game. It is also overly prone to riccochet. It's 130 grains do not match up with any "serious" bullet wieghts so I doubt if it would "fill-in" as a practice round since it won't replicate the performance of a 158gr or 125gr bullet (both popular wieghts for "serious" .38 spl. ammo) About the only thing to take away from shooting this ammo is some excellent empty brass for reloading. IMHO there's no reason to mess around with this stuff when Winchester offers so many better loads. in .38 spl.
