This mag is junk, does not work, and if used for defensive purposes, might cost you your life. I am not aware of anyone who has ever produced an aftermarket mag that works in a Mini-14.

I bought this magazine with high hopes after watching some videos and reading some other reviews. It loaded easily enough and the follower went up and down easily. However, the fit was very tight in my 581 series; so tight that it squeezes the mag and doesn't allow the cartridges to feed. The best I could get was two shots, followed by a failure to allow the cartridges to move up into the feeding position. By pulling the magazine, it allowed the follower to immediately push the next cartridge up. This happened with TulAmmo as well as S&B SS109, Winchester NATO M855, PMC Bronze, and Federal XM193. A magazine that won't work with five different brands of ammo is useless to me. All of the above cartridges worked without flaws in my Ruger factory 20 rd mags. Aftermarket mags have always been the weak point with the Mini-14. Some work and some won't. From now on, I will never buy anything but Ruger factory mags.

Buy only the factory Ruger Mags. I bought four of these and I can't get them seated to save my life! When they do seat, they still won't chamber a round, so I'm sending these back and buying the factory 20 round mags instead.

Purchased this magazine worked well while shooting, as mentioned below. They seated much better with the action open. One problem I found was I left the mag loaded for about 24 hrs, and when I picked it up from that position, the rounds flew everywhere in my truck.

Used this in my 580 synthetic tactical mini 14. only problem is that when loaded it is tricky to get it in the mag well. But if you have the bolt hold open activated it goes in no problem. Otherwise works just as good as the factory Ruger mags. tested 3 of these 120rd though one and 60 rds though the other 2. for the price compared to the factory I give the Tapco a 5.
