I bought a pair of these last year, and have used them on about a dozen trips to various ranges. They work beautifully. The amplification is loud and clear, and does not cut out completely when someone fires (i.e. you can still hear other noises, such as someone talking to you). In an indoor range, you will still need to also use foam ear plugs, particularly if shooting centerfire rifles. In that scenario, I plug with foam plugs, then put these on and turn the amplification all the way up, and I can hear all range commands without any trouble, but all gunshots are well muffled. They are comfortable to wear, I have spent several hours wearing them without the need to take them off due to physical discomfort. I even use them when mowing the lawn and snowblowing. As for the number of batteries required, the initial set I put in mine a year ago are still going strong, so it isn't like it is burning through the batteries. Although they are bulky, I have not had any problems with the muffs interfering with cheek weld on a rifle. For the price, these muffs are an excellent purchase.

Great for the range. I feel paranoid without being able to hear people talk. Everyone else is screaming at each other to hear, but with these, I can hear a pin drop. I sweat a little but, it's worth it.

WORKED GREAT ON THE RANGE. WE COULD TALK, INSTRUCT WITHOUT YELLING. A PLUS OR MINUS IS THAT YOU CAN HEAR WHAT EVERYONE ELSE IS SAYING TO. THE ONLY DRAW BACK IS THAT YOU WILL NEED 6 AAA's TO WORK BOTH SIDES.
