Based on the Vietnam Tomahawk, the new Fusion Tactical Tomahawk is an extreme evolution of the original which was considered one of the more unusual weapons of its day. Today there is a real need for a versatile tool for breaching operations, excavation, obstacle removal, extraction, and other utility applications. The 420 stainless steel head with hard cased coating is mounted to the fiberglass reinforced nylon handle with heavy duty bolts and a steel ferrule for stability. Side hammer checkering insures precise placement when pounding. Carried in a nylon sheath this is a universal tool for modern man.

I got this over 4 months ago and have been doing some chopping and throwing and it holds its own. it cuts very well and will take out small logs(6-8 in.) with no problem. when chopping i tie a small amount of 550 cord in the 1st grove from the blade and make a loop, like an ice axe , giving me extra security so I don't send it flying losing it or even hitting someone. Throwing the hawk is a skill that I’m still working on but it does make a rather sweet whistle noise as it sails through the air caused by the two holes in the blade. The pick, or death spike as I call it, is fun to stick in logs, stab debris out of your way, or use as a line of defense when you need a single point of penetration. All in all, this is a great camp tool/defense weapon that I have fun with each time I use it, and seems to be holding together every chop.

It is good. After cutting wood it still is sharp enuf to cut paper. The cover works fine if you put the loop on a belt then put in the Tomahawk.

a tomahawk is just a light duty camp tool not for abuse. a weapon and a hunting tool. its supposed to have a light handle for throwing at game or enemies. the handle is flush so it can leave your hand with zero resistance. this is for killing not chopping wood. a very good product for its proper use. if you want a camp axe get a hatchet, saw, machete, bowie knife...... i wouldn't use a shotgun to dig a hole. would you?

It is large. The composite handle should stand up much better than a wooden handle. I would have designed a bulge at the end of the handle. I looks and feels like it could slip out of your hand under force/stress. The head is afixed to the handle with steel side supports. I expect it to hold up well. The sheath does not have a very strong or large belt attachment...and not the best closure system. Overall, a very good SOG product.

This is a pretty useful tool. So far it seems very well made. I am not sure on the handle.. I'd prefer a solid wood handle so I'm a bit concerned on that front otherwise I'd have given it a 5 bullet rating. It's also a tad on the large side, so pack size is a consideration when getting this, however, the size also will tend to give you better head speed on the swing so it's a good thing...better than the SOG battle axe IMO.
