Fulcrum Folding Knife -
This knife is a Ross Kommer design that uses Fulcrum action to open the knife. To open the Fulcrum pocket knife, simply press the left side of the frame down with your thumb. The blade swings out to the 90 degree position. Then pull the left side of the frame back, gripping with your index finger at the choil, and the blade continues to rotate open and lock in the open position. To close the Fulcrum, simply release the stainless steel locking liner. One hand closing is also fast and easy.

Drop Point Blade -
This blade has a gentle, sloping convex curve to the point versus the concave curve of the clip blade. Being thicker, this blade point is stronger for heavier tasks. It stands up to abuse well, but isn't as effective for easy penetration.

AUS 8 -
A Japanese made medium-carbon, high chromium stainless steel, which offers a good balance of toughness, edge sharpness and corrosion resistance.

Hollow Ground -
The ground surface of the blade is concave and used to create a fine cutting edge.

I bought this knife as a gift for a woman at work. It can be opened (carefully!) with one hand. I have not yet delivered it as it is not her birthday yet. So I have played with it some. It is a little harder to open one handed than I had hoped but it can be done with practice. One thing I had in mind was her nails. I do not know, but I think she will be able to open one handed without damaging her nails. The steel is excellent. The finish (of the steel and the handles) is not perfect but it is good. The pink color is "cute" for the gift aspect. It comes very sharp right out of the box. It does cut the hair off my forearm. I like it. If it were not pink I would consider getting one for myself as I do not yet own any knifes with a clip. I have a knife of the same size whose sheath I attach to my belt. That carry method is less convenient that the clip. The clip on this knife is a nice touch. I believe the clip, the size and the quality steel makes this knife eminently practical. The ease of opening the folding knife has not compromised the safety of the closed knife. I do not see this knife opening accidentally at all. The pink handles could be a little wider and shaped to make the knife more ergonomic once it is opened. That would make it bulkier in one's pocket, if using the clip carry method. The handles may also be a little "cheap" and a bit slippery but they look good and are adequate. I think that makes this knife a good choice as a gift as long as the recipient is careful. It is no toy. As I mentioned before, it arrives very sharp. And due to the opening method a careless user could cut themselves seriously while opening the knife. However, I suppose that can be said of any knife.
