I purchased the Versa-Pod Rail Adapter for my walnut stocked Springfield M1A. After drilling out the rivets for the factory front sling mount, I was able to easily bolt up the Versa-Pod Rail Adapter according to the supplied instructions. This rail adapter allows me to use a QD Harris bipod attached to the stock, instead of the barrel (old USGI M2 style). The underside of the rail has a channel milled out that allows gas, from the gas system, to be vented out the factory hole in the bottom of the fore-stock. The fit and finish are top notch.

Would not fit my M1A Scout with synthetic stalk, at least not without serious modification to the stalk. Returned to CTD with no problems. Ended up buying the new one from Brownells and it works like a champ!

I bought this rail for my M1a. The holes didn't line up and had to be redrilled. I also didn't care for the sling stud, so I removed it and bought some longer screws and and ground off the corner to slide the original stud between the rail and the stock. After the slight mods I have loved how it has performed. It's very solid even when shooting off of the bipod. Since it leaves a gap about .25" thick on the front of the stock it doesn't reduce your accuracy by putting pressure on the front band. It also leaves room for the gas to escape out the vent on the bottom side of the stock. I have to say that it was well worth the extra effort to make this fit!

I bought this for my standard M1A synthetic stock but the holes don't match up. The instruction seem to suggest it is made for the wooden stocks. Also this attachment requires you disassemble your rifle to install two machine screws with the heads of the screws being inside. I was curious to see if the heads of the screws would interfere with the operating rode so I installed just the screws and it seemed the heads of the screws were pressing up against the op rode. This might not be the case for a wooden stock but it was for the synthetic stock.
