I don't live in a "shotgun only" area, but I do own a Winchester Model 1300 slug gun which I used to take does in PA several years ago. I always used sabots on those hunts but got away from them due to the ridiculously high prices. I've since kept it zeroed with Winchester Super-X 1 oz. rifled slugs that manage to shoot into a 5" target at 75 yards. I recently tried these Buckhammers and was floored by the results. At 75 yards they shot 2.5" groups, with rounds often touching. They cut perfect, nickel-sized holes like monster wadcutters! Now I'm actually going to take this shotgun buck hunting this year....and don't feel handicapped in the least! Recoil is not for the faint of heart....these things recoil hard, like 3" slugs.

For a once-in-a-lifetime experience I went with a group from my club on a hunt for Russian Boar at a game lodge in Pa. Being unsure of the best of my guns for the occasion I took my 12 ga. H&R Ultra Slug Hunter and brought along Buckhammers as that was the ammo I last sighted with the gun, last deer season. I ended up getting a good profile shot at about 75 yds, aimed just behind the left shoulder and shot. The 285 lb. pig took about 10 steps forward and plowed nose first into the ground. By the time I hurried close by to see if it was finished having been warned about them being tough to go down and potentially dangerous, this guy was dead still. Upon having the game skinned and quartered back at the lodge the guide who was cleaning the cavity called our attention to the slug he pulled from the inside of the right chest of the pig. The slug had flattened to over an inch wide and the plastic stabilizer was still attached. Others in my group shot everything from 308 rifles to buckshot and everyone of them had to chase down the tough boar after it was hit and a few had to take another shot to dispatch the animal - these Buckhammers shoot straight and hit really hard. It's all I'll use for any big game like deer and now boar. You gotta try these!!

I have been on many moose hunts in Maine. My weapon of choice is a Remington 1100. I use nothing but Buckhammers. I was fortunate enough to shoot 2 moose in 2005 and 2008. Both shots were at least 70 yards. I put both shots right where I wanted. Both were 1-shot harvests. Buckhammers are the best.

Did an accuracy test with 4 brands of slugs shot thru my Winchester rifled barrel. The Buckhammer slugs were by far the tightest 3 shot groups measuring just over 2.5 inches at 100 yards shot from a rest. The Federals, Brennekes, and Winchesters weren't even close to that good. Also, they hit like a Mack truck.

I find these slugs to be outstanding in my 870 slug gun. 100 yard shots with 2 holes touching and a third about an inch low is quite impressive. These things hit super hard, make sure you have a good recoil pad!
