The High Ride Beavertail Grip Safety will improve the comfort and controllability of your 1911 Auto. This is accomplished by allowing the shooting hand to be positioned closer to the plane of the bore while spreading the recoil over a broad rounded surface. The bottom of the High Ride Safety features Wilson Combats raised Posi-Release tab which assures positive grip safety disengagement while serving as a grip memory point each time you draw your pistol. The top of the High Ride Safety has a hammer pocket which makes the pistol more snag-free by allowing a commander or bobbed spur hammer to sit down in the beavertail when cocked. Frame modification required.

Installation of a Wilson High Ride beavertail requires cutting the frame to fit the beavertail.

Originally purchased this for my Rock Island GI, but found I would have had to grind the frame down in order to get it to fit, so I went with part # 38838 instead. I did however install this on my Llama Max-I C/F. It took quite a bit of modification, but fits, functions and looks great.

I've checked out several other beavertails before I decided on this one. I installed this into my DGFM and it only required minor fitting. I checked out some of the other beavertails and they required you to buy a fitting jig and having to cut the frame of your pistol...No Thanks. With my dremel and about 15 minutes this thing dropped right in and works perfectly. This will not work with a spur hammer unless you bob it, so keep that in mind.
