This is a very good OWB holster for the P229. It fits both the P229R and the non-rail models of the P229 equally well. It is a semi-pancake design with choice of cross draw or strong side cant. It is boned and shaped to the gun, so it's not a true pancake holster. I own a semi-custom pancake and it does hold the gun flatter against the side than this type of holster but it doesn't look as nice as the well-shaped Bianchi. Initially, the thumb-break strap was too tight but this loosened up with use of a little saddle soap to soften it and and then pulling it to stretch the length. Now the thumb-break fits extremely well and holds it secure but it is pretty easy to snap closed one-handed when reholstering. Practicality dictates that a true pancake holster conceals better than this type of holster but the Bianchi is well made, does a good job and doesn't cost a fortune.
