I got this light & laser because of its compactness and its price. At first I thought it was a universal Picatinny-Style product, but I found out that it didn't really fit my Walther P99. Their Quick-release latching system was over sized for my gun and it didn't really fit. So I have to do a little modifying to make it work. I don't know if this product was meant to be used on all SIG Sauer guns or a universal product, if so they should have different sizes spares for the picatinny rail for different guns. I would have gave it a higher rating then a 3 because of their Quick-release latching system.

Sig left out an important detail in the instructions for the STL laser light. Although it is not stated, there actually is a elevation adjustment screw on the bottom of the unit. I had mine for around two months before I discovered this. I was very pleased with the unit other than the laser adjusment. It just made no sense that such a well built laser/light had no elevation only adjustment. During halftime of a football game, I was looking over the unit when I looked at the rubber plug on the bottom. It looks different from the adjustment screw plug on the side. I took it off and there was the adjustment for elevation. Looking back, it seems obvious since this screw is directly below the side adjustment screw, but the instructions never mention this. I'm going back to my old mode of operation, figure it out first, then read the directions.

I use this at work and really like the fact that when entering a house it frees up my other hand that would usually be holding a light. Strobe is nice if you want to dissorient a perp. Laser does have short comings with the on/off switch location, but I am not a fan of the laser. In fact, many top shooters and tactical schools will tell you that lasers are a no no. It is good for spooking some knuckle head tring to break into your house when he sees a red dot on the tip of his nose! Mine is a little tough to slide on and off the tac rail. All in all, I like it mucho.

Runs down batteries even when turned off! I purchased an STL-900L unit a month ago and discovered it runs down batteries even though it is completely turned off. Upon discovering this, I put in a fresh battery, made sure it was off then set it beside the bed to monitor. The battery was dead in just two days! This renders the STL-900L totally useless for home defense as it will not be available when needed unless you have time to put in a battery then mount it on the gun. Sig really bummed on this one!

I really am impressed with the workmanship of this product. The white light is impressive, good for 25 yards and the laser is strong and very visible. The buttons are intuitive and allow for different lighting options at a touch of a button from your non shooting left hand while aiming. the Sig Sauer quality is evident from the time you open the magnetically latched flap on the box to the time you mount it on your 1913. I had no problem with adjustment or sighting. Simple enough for home defense and range shooting.
