I got mine when I purchased my p229 about 6 months ago. It won't fit in most holsters, so Most of the time it stays off the gun. I have used it at the range, and in the woods on a .22 clone of an AR-15. I have not needed to change the battery yet, and have never removed it. When it was on My p229, it did have a tiny second dot when sighted it. This dot, could not be mistaken for the actual one. The light is Extremely bright, and the Strobe mode is disorienting, more so in the dark, where lights are used. It is made for left hand use, as well as right handed. It has 4 activation buttons right at your finger tips when on a Sig/handgun (2 for lefty/2 for righty) They can activate the light in either continuous beam or only when you hold the button. Very nice feature, because you do not need to see the device to activate. To change from strobe to solid or turn the laser on it is on the left side. The unit itself Holds the Allen key needed to sight in the laser, and does a good job of it. Over all I love mine, more so because it came free with the gun I purchased.

I have one of these mounted on my Glock 23, and all I can say is "WOW". It worked great on my gun. I have taken it to the shooting range many times, and shot over 500 rds with it so far. The laser held zero since having it day one. The allen wrench never fell off the unit (you have to push it in hard until you hear a "click"). This is a great buy for the price. I am not sure what happened to other people who have had bad experiences. I received the same product, but mine worked out great and does what it was designed to!! I would love to recommend this light/laser combo to my friends and family!!

I am not sure why all the bad reviews. I have had this light on my P226 for over a year now. It fits perfect and I have never had to change the battery. This light is stronger and brighter than any flash light I own! I will absolutely buy another one for my wife's gun.

I bought the STL-900L for my P226. I didn't have any of the electrical problems stated in other reviews, but... I did run into problems at the range. I could not keep the light on the gun. It kept walking off the end of the rail. On closer inspection I could see that it doesn't fit the P226 very well at all. I put it on, so that the light was all the way back, (touching the trigger guard), but the light still hangs off the end of the rail nearly 1/2 an inch. The locking pin can barely make the first locking channel, [If you hold your mouth just right]. The light has to be forced on in order to get it even close to the first locking channel at the very end of the P226. (I watched a you tube video where one guy had to pound on the light, [with his hand], to get it on far enough to lock in) My experience at the range was; I put the light on the P226, checked to make sure it was secure & then snugged it down with the side screw. After only 5 rounds I saw the light walking off the end of the rail. I stopped, put it back in place, & snugged it down even tighter. 5 more rounds & it was coming off again. One last time I tried to get it to stay on tightening as much as I could, [without breaking it], but to no avail. It seems that the locking pin wasn't completely in the channel & wouldn't lock on. The "Tightening" I did only ruined the locking pin, [Tiny as it is & made of plastic]. I'm a truck driver, I've had pimples on my butt bigger that the locking pin on this light! Maybe if I poured a bunch of Lock-tite on the slide & let it dry over night I could get it to stay put. If that don't work I could try a big ole glob of JB weld in all the nooks & cranny's & jus make it "One-with-the gun". Long story short, The gun is Awesome...... The Laser/light is "NOT".

I bought one of these back in July '09 while on sale specifically for my SIG 226R nightstand gun. I initially was frustrated that laser seemed adjustable only in a diagonal direction. Not so. The directions don't properly explain that there is another adjustment screw on the bottom of the unit. I've heard many complaints about this and only recently was informed myself. In regard to battery life, I just replaced mine after six months of staying in the unit and plenty of "experimenting" with it.
