This has been an outstanding round for my PMR-30, after some other ammo was starting to fte do to fouling, I loaded mag with the Hornady and it fired fine, it could be these round have a little more punch being 2200 fps,but your mileage may vary.

I’ve been shooting .22s for over 40 years , but just recently (about 2 years ago) got into .22 magnums. I tested several different rounds and manufactures through my two (so far) magnums and the Hornady V-Max rates in the #1 slot for both my Remington 597 and my Marlin 983S. Although my Marlin also likes Winchester Super-X and my Remington also likes Remington Accutip-V, the V-Max shoots flatter and holds a tighter group. I sight my scopes in at 100 yards, and the V-Max is at zero from 30 yards to 135 yards. Even at 200 yards, it’s only a two mil-dot holdover through my Gerholdt-Reuss. I was concerned that our eastern-plains Colorado winds might push this lighter bullet around, but it hasn’t been a problem. They still fly flat and true. I consistently take out prairie dogs at 150 – 175 yards with no drift. And what I really love is that these are indeed one-shot kills. You hit a varmint and they go down and stay down. The initial impact is devastating. Shooting into some squash in my south-40, I found that the poly tip expands the round on impact and it’s almost explosive. The entry damage runs up to 4” in diameter, and the entry hole around 2” across. The round breaks up into several wound channels as it passes through. My only caution is to not use these on any game you plan on harvesting. You’ll never dig out all the lead fragments. But if you need to eliminate a varmint problem, you’ll not find a better round. Myself, I just ordered another 1000 rounds.

I have a new Ruger single 6 convertible, and I tried a box of CCI ammo, and was impressed. So I tried a box of Hornady V-max 30 grain, and was really impressed. Much more accurate, louder, and the muzzle flash was spectacular! I will definitely buy more of this.

I've been shooting .22mag for over 30 years. This Hornady ammo is hands down the most accurate, most devistaing .22mag ammo yet. Coyotes too tree rats, ONE shot kills. Several coyotes have fallen to this round, avg. range 125yrds-150yrds. This is one bullet that when put threw the slats, keeps them "DOWN"!!
