After the first range trip post-upgrade, I am very happy with this stock. Each shot with the OEM wood/metal buttplate stock formerly resulted in pain such that I just had to tell myself to keep ignoring it and 30 rounds was my max. Yesterday, I put 60 rounds downrange with no pain whatsoever, using the Tapco stock (expanded to 5th of 6 holes) and the Tapco butt pad. This makes the AK-47 rifle SO much easier and a real pleasure to shoot for those of us with a longer pull length. This is a very highly recommended upgrade and also allows you to preserve the original furniture. It's lighter too, and with the stock collapsed, the rifle is shorter than it is with the original wood stock. I also bought and installed the Hogue pistol grip and it's a winner as well.

My Lancaster Arms AK-47, with milled receiver, has both an upper and lower tang for the stock, which made a lot of modification necessary to install the Tapco part. As a result, I have screws from both the top (original screw) and bottom (Tapco screw), so the stock should hold very well. The Tapco material is very tough, and after a lot of work to get it installed, I am pleased with the result and the rifle should be a lot more comfortable to shoot. The only possible improvement would be a warning about installation on receivers with both tangs (not just the upper, which is probably the way most of them are).

After putting this on the AKM, my wife and 12 yr old son can shoot this weapon! They can shoot it well also! I think all Tapcos stuff is great and every black rifle should have one!

great stock i love it but the screws it came with were dry wall screws............not durable..and they broke..but once i put steel in it worked fine and i have never had a prob yet
