Subcom F -
The original "Biscuit." The Subcom F folder has a municipal friendly blade, at 1 7/8" long and 1/16" thick. The blade is bead blast AUS-8 stainless steel and boasts an ambidextrous thumb stud. The reversible pocket clip and compact size of this Frame Lock model make for an ideal money clip. Both thumb and palm index ramps provide for a secure grip. Handle is fiberglass reinforced nylon. Lightweight, only 2.5 ounces. Overall length: 4 1/2".
Bead Blast Finish -
can be defined as any non reflective finish applied to the metal surface by bead blasting or sand blasting the blade with any of a variety of media. The intent is to roughen the surface for anti glare. The trade off is it tends to be more susceptible to corrosion due to the increased surface area exposed. This finish is also commonly referred to as a "military finish".
AUS 8 -
A Japanese made medium carbon, high chromium stainless steel, which offers a good balance of toughness, edge sharpness and corrosion resistance.
Frame Lock -
Also known as the Integral Lock or Monolock. The Frame Lock is a locking mechanism invented by custom knife maker Chris Reeve for the Sebenzas an update to the liner lock. The Frame Lock works in a manner similar to the liner lock but uses a partial cutout of the actual knife handle, rather than a separate liner inside the handle to hold the blade in place.

Well, no wonder CTD sells out of these almost as fast as they stock them. I ordered two with the intention of giving one to a friend for Christmas. Now I'm thinking of keeping them both. I was intrigued by the odd shape, then enchanted with the size and quality. The knife is a little less than twice the size shown on this page, a little more than half the size on the "larger image" window. Closed, it's a flat rectangle, about half the size of a credit card and about three times a thick (plus the pocket clip). Workmanship is superb, with a positive click upon closing, a slight resistance detente when first opening, and a locking lug inside the bolster. Mine hesitates just slightly before locking open, a quirk which is hardly apparent when opening with two hands, but which has fooled me into thinking it was locked when using just the thumb stud. (also, this seems to be smoothing out the more I play with the knife). The blade is SHARP. What less would you expect from Boker? Large serrations on the rim of the bolster fit under the thumb and in the palm to help control. And there's a large hole in the corner for a key ring, which is where one of mine just might go. I can't figure out the price on this one: at twenty bucks, I'm thinking of grabbing a few more whenever they're back in stock. My only real complaint: the pocket clip is so stiff it's basically useless. But as these always work loose with time, it's better to start tight. This one is a real bargain, as indicated by the fact that CTD has sold out of these at least twice during the month of December, 2007 alone.
