I been searching high and low for a case that protect my rifle and thought about getting a hard case with foam inside, but every time I looked around, all I saw was costly products that were for the case and added more to the cost for the foam. Well, I found this product and purchased it. I am glad I did, my rifle fits in it very snug. I can drop the thing and nothing inside will move at all. Very protective and secure. What's cool is that there are no marking at all on the outside. I have been asked if I played a musical instrument due to other cases that are the same size and what not. You want a very ood product that's cheap? Well here is it. I swear, if I get another rifle, I will be going with this product over anything else.

I bought an AR and I needed a case. I liked my other two Bulldog cases and thought that they needed another sibling. I have reviewed the other two (BD594 & BD596) so you can read about them on Cheaperthandirt.com if you wish. My Sig 556 case is awesome. The rifle fits smoothly and perfect. The blank one was poorly built and difficult to cut. This AR-15 case suits my needs and is a little too snug. First of all, the zipper on this one is WAY better than the others. It is larger and more durable than my previous cases. Huge improvement! The case is still fine. It's very stiff and padded well. The interior padding on this one is a little loose and the foam wasn't glued as well as the BD594 but hey... my third case here. I was expecting to receive a 34" long case but to my surprise, I received the 40" case. Kinda nice since my other two are 40". This gave me more foam and room for an optic if I choose to put one on. The magazine slots are a little too wide for one magazine but too skinny for two side-by-side. There is perfectly enough room in the large cut-out for 6 boxes of 20 rounds. I have a 16" barrel on the M-4 style rifle. I needed to cut about 1/4" of foam at the end of the barrel to make it fit. I put a Magpul MOE stock on and I had to cut about 1/4" of foam at the rear of the rifle. The original stock fit beautifully. I do not have the detachable carry handle so the rest of the rifle fits very snug. The only thing that did not fit well were the oval-shaped handguards. But I swapped them for the Magpul ones anyway and it didn't matter. Magpul fits fine. Overall, you won't find a better price than Cheaperthandirt.com. If you have the standard A2 style carbine with a 16" barrel or shorter, this would be a nice case for you if you don't want to spend whatever it is that a Pelican case will cost.

This is similar to one I have for my PS90. great case, I love it. due to above rating, I am not going to get this one for my AR, as I have a front foregrip, and flat top receiver. HOWEVER, I am looking at CTD product # 55089, which comes with a Blank foam insert. had to mod mine for the ps90 to get more than two mags into the case, the foam isn't too hard to cut with a template and a sharp straight blade knife, and patience. anyone thinking of getting one for the AR with more than out of the box mods should consider getting the other part number, and cutting to fit your own gun... once you customize your rifle, everything else needs customized to fit it!!

Well, this is an ok case, but I don't have a single AR that will fit into it correctly. If you have a stripped down AR with only a carry handle you will be ok. But, if you have optics or a vertical grip forget it. There's really not even enough room to "cut out" a place for optics, because as you can see in the pic if they are higher than the carry handle you are out of room. None of my stocks fit into the cut out either, but you can cut out the foam in this area. I think it is pre-cut for the standard 4 position CAR stock.
