Have been using the Caldwell Steady Rest for some time now, both with pistols and rifles of varying caliber. The rest is lightweight and the take apart thumbscrews can be difficult to use in colder weather, but the rest works well. Especially with additional sandbags for weight when using my heavier M14 (.308). Lighter caliber rifles .22, .22mag, .222 & .223 don't tend to jump around as badly. Pistols of all calibers worked well when using the front rest alone but it can be difficult to assemble and disassemble in the cold. Out of the box it's easy to put together and easy to adjust at the range. A good deal for the price. Plan to invest in some sand bags for additional weight since the whole unit is mainly plastic.
