The CRKT Bear Claw 2500 has a Razor-Sharp edge and sharp tip. The blade has a full tang, and taper ground AUS 4 stainless steel with a fine bead blast finish. Friction grooves are placed on the blade spine, choil and near the tip for maximum blade control and safety. The contoured Zytel handle fills the hand neatly.

This is not the first CRKT knife I have owned. Their knives have never disappointed me before and it looks like this one won't either. The knife, itself, is sturdy and well-constructed. It looks like it will stand up to a good amount of use/abuse. As you can see from the picture, the slight downward curve to the blade will require you to rethink some of your grips and thrusts if you intend to use it as a defensive weapon, but it works well for both point-up and point-down edge-out techniques. (Note that the blade is single-edged on the concave side.) The sheath is not pictured, but is constructed of black Zytel like the handle and can be carried in a number of different positions, including upside down. The attachable belt clip is a waste of time as it has no grip to keep it in place as you draw the knife; the sheath will come out of your pocket or off your belt before the knife comes out of the sheath. Also, note that the sheath holds the knife tightly enough that you will not be able to use a ball-chain for a neck carry. The ball-chain would probably break before the knife came out of the sheath. If you prefer an around-the-neck carry for your last ditch knife, then you'll have to accept the choking risk of an actual cord. The cord supplied for that purpose is strong enough, but a bit thin and rough. Both knife and sheath are made in Taiwan. All in all, a good knife for a good price.
