Now you can have a high ride beavertail grip safety on your 1911 pistol without cutting the frame. This provides better control of your pistol while eliminating the discomfort and hammer bite that are possible with stock grip safeties. To return your gun to stock condition, simply re-install the factory part. The drop-in safety is designed to work with a commander style hammer or a bobbed spur hammer. Due to variations from one pistol to the next, slight modifications to the beavertails trigger engagement area may be required for proper operation.

I added this grip safety to my stainless Springfield "GI" 1911, and it looks great and functions as it should. Obviously it doesnt fit or look quite like a factory installed beavertail, but it is a great way to get the look and feel without cutting the gun's frame, and without spending a ton of money. I would highly recommend this, along with a commander-style hammer (since the GI spur hammer wont work with a high rise beavertail).
