To complement their tactical mission we have given each blade a tough, black, Tuff-Ex finish. Our testing has shown this coating offers three major advantages for tactical blades. First, it helps the blade to resist rust. Second, it eliminates glare and light reflections, which may give its user away. And third, it's a superior lubricant, which causes the blade to slip through even tough material with markedly less friction. This means you can cut deeper and far longer than with a non-Tuff-Ex coated blade. To make the Recon 1 as easy to open and carry as possible we have equipped each knife with a thumb stud and a small, extra strong pocket clip. This clip is completely ambidextrous so lefties please take note. What's more its small size doesn't abrade or irritate the palm under protracted use.

I own and have used this knife for years and love it!!! The only reason I didn't give this knife a 5 bullet rateing is because of the thumb stud for opening. It is disk shaped instead of a rounded stud. The reason the stud is better is because with a little practice you can catch it on your pocket when you draw the knife and it will open without you ever touching the blade, it doesn't work like that with the disk. Don't be discouraged by that though, it opens eaisly with a flich of your thumb. Other than that....which is a preferance thing....this is a great knife. I use mine every day at work and it has not let me down yet, doubt it ever will. The black finish on the blade will wear off in time with heavy use. The lock on this knife is OUTSTANDING. The blade hones to a razor edge eaisly and keeps the edge for a long time with moderate use. If you are looking for a sleek, dedendable, hard working knife, then I recomend this one.
