Survival/Rescue operations demand a versatile knife able to withstand the most extreme abuse. The SRK (Survival Rescue Knife) was designed specifically with this in mind. The blade is finished with a rich Tuff-Ex coat which helps to protect the AUS 8A Stainless steel from the elements. It features a tremendously strong clip point thats fine enough for delicate work, yet possesses enough belly for efficient cutting, slashing and skinning strokes as well. At 3/16 of an inch thick, the Survival Rescue Knife offers the sturdiest possible point and edge configuration, without sacrificing sharpness. The SRK's handle sports a single quillon finger guard and a deeply checkered Kray-Ex grip.

I bought one of these 20 some odd years ago for use in the Army. It has been through everything from cutting foliage, opening T-ration tins, cutting drop straps, hammered into a tree to hang from in the swamp, punched through a car door, and it's share of occasional combat. I've long since left the army but now I wear this as my belt knife around the ranch. The 3'8" thick tang really is as strong as advertised.

Yay a nutnfancy fan! I own a recon scout too ! carbon V, not the chinese stuff. Oh right, wrong knife, um the SRK i own is a factory second Carbon V and yes i also reprofiled its edge. it was way to thick to slice anything with, and many people complain it snaps or loosens under heavy use so bad idea on CS's part. i did some light batoning on some lose, dry wood that broke easily with my hands and it went right down to bare metal, but otherwise oorah!

I was batoning through some cedar with another section of cedar and the coating chipped down to the metal in big sections. And when I noticed this I also discovered the handle had loosened. Get a TOPS

To start off this is a awsome knife. this knife holds an edge great!! It came razor sharp. The shelth is kydex and holds the knife even with out the snap loop. The way to attach the shealth to your belt is with a nylon loop that snaps off so you dont have to take your belt off to put it on. The reason I gave it four stars is I threw it at a tree a couple a times just for the fun of it and the knife blade shakes very slightly in the handle u can barly notice but you can tell if you move the blade.

this is a great knife, but there is some bad to say about it. i have owned this knife for about six months and taken it on several outdoor excursions and a few things were brought to my attention. the first thing i noticed about the knife was the grind, the grind was too shallow in my opinion so i changed it, it was abrupt almost like an axe instead of a knife. secondly after jacking around with the knife a little, throwing it into trees and such, the handle loosened up on me. so i took off the kraton handle and filled it with gorilla glue and then slid it back on. take my experience and use it however you like...i still love coldsteel and currently use the recon scout by them, which if you can carry the extra weight you will be better for it this knife is far superior than any knife i have owned in the past, it is a "wilderness standard".
