This Vital-Shok with FLITECONTROL 12 gauge ammo is an excellent choice for hunting deer. This example has a 2-3/4" shell loaded with 9 Pellets of 00 Buck shot which it fires at 1325 fps. The innovative wad design keeps the pattern tight.

Our revolutionary FLITECONTROL wad uses a rear-braking shot cup to stay with pellets longer and choke them into a lethally tight pattern. It ensures dense patterns, eliminates the need for expensive aftermarket chokes and provides more pellets on target. The Premium shot is copper-plated for uniform pellets and deep penetration.

This round will not disappoint you with its tight pattern at 30 yards and further when used with IC or Modified chokes. I could not find a better price than Cheaper Than Dirt.

I tried this out for hog hunting in Texas. I was suprised that this kicked about like a #5 shot instead of buckshot which is a good thing. I shot at targets with a close group out to 50 yards with a smooth bore no choke barrell. Then I shot two rounds into a group of buzzards just for the hell of it. If you need practice with a powerful round that wont hurt your shoulder, try this, it doesnt kick like other buckshot rounds.

The Flight Control wad keeps the shot so closely grouped that -- as the previous reviewer mentioned -- it's one big hole (2 inches) at close range (25 feet). At 40 feet, shot patterns to 3.25 inches. At 60 feet, 3.75 inches. Incredibly tight patterns in all my testing with a 20-inch Mossberg 500.

I have used this product under thier LE/ Tac line. It is a 9 pellet, reduced recoil load with the FliteControl wad. This stuff holds a pattern so well that a paper target shot at 15 yards will leave one big hole where all 9 plaited pieces passed through, followed by the wadding. Out of my Mossy 500 with no choke this stuff outperforms more expensive Hornady loads and makes me remember why I'll never use Wolf again. The reduced recoil dampens the felt shove, but certainly doesn't eliminate it. For certain applications, I'd accept nothing else.
