This is a strong load. The soft point is NOT appropriate for defense in urban settings or home defense as it blows straight through most intermediate barriers. However, it drives deep for medium sized game like deer. If your only gun for hiking is a .357 you could do a lot worse for a defensive load in that arena. It is inexpensive and is reliable. It burns a little dirtier than some brands, but if you take fair care of your gun's cleanliness this round should never be a problem. The boxes I've bought have had a very nice roll crimp that lets them slide easily from speed-loaders into the chambers without wanting to hang up (I've seen a lot worse job of this with ammo costing a lot more). But a lot before it goes up.

Magtech .357 seem to be a little hotter ammo. Shoots Very accurate and clean in my Ruger Security Six. I prefer this ammo when Target and Hiking.

this is all you need for practice to hunting it will do it all and at a great price.i use it all the time in my ruger gp100 and sp101.very accurate and clean.
