Endura 4 FRN Serrated Folding Knife -
In 1990 Spyderco shook things up by introducing two knives, the Delica and Endura. First of their kind on the market, both folders opened up the knife market to lightweight performance, one hand open pocket knives that just about everyone could afford. They settled as Spyderco's top two bestsellers and their improvement hasn't slowed since. Refinement has been so ongoing and continual Spyderco tagged the updating and upgrading process with the term CQI- Constant Quality Improvement. During the Endura and Delica's CQI journey Spyderco tweaked ergonomics, refined blade steels and fine tuned their performance countless times. They are an evolutionary work in progress and the next level is here with the new Endura 4 and Delica 4. Both models now have screw construction making cleaning and adjusting easier. The fiberglass reinforced nylon handles come molded with Bi Directional Texturing® for preferred traction and improved ergonomics. Inside the handle dual skeletonized stainless steel liners make the knife stronger without adding weight and make an anchor for all external and internal components to attach through adding sturdiness and rigidity. Their VG-10 blades are flat saber ground with a stronger tip and larger 13mm opening hole. Added to the blade's spine is slip resistant jimping. Phosphor bronze washers smooth out the open and close action and the clip is upgraded to a four way tip up, tip down, and left or right handed clip.

Serrated Blade -
A serrated blade has a cutting edge that has many small points of contact with the material being cut. By having less contact area than a smooth blade, the applied force at each point of contact is relatively greater and the points of contact are at a sharper angle to the material being cut.

VG-10 Stainless Steel -
VG-10 has Carbon (C) content between 0.95-1.05, Chromium (Cr) content between 13.0-15.0, Molybdenum (Mo) content between 0.2-0.4, and contains less than 0.25 of Nickel (Ni). During forging, Mo and Cr forms hard double carbide bonds which help improve the abrasion and corrosion resistance of the steel. It has a hardness of 58-61.

Fiberglass Reinforced Nylon (FRN) -
A nylon polymer mixed with glass fiber that is then injected into a mold for making lightweight knife handles.

Tip Up and Tip Down -
Refers to which direction the folded knife if positioned by its pocket clip. When closed and clipped in a pocket, whichever direction (up or down) the blade's tip sits defines if it is termed tip up or tip down.

Lanyard Hole -
This is a hole to fit a lanyard, rope or carrying implement through.

Flat Saber Grind -
A knife's edge, ground completely flat without a radius that tapers from the cutting edge to a grind line down the center of the blade. Unlike a Full Flat Grind, which tapers from the cutting edge all the way to the blade's spine the Flat Saber only is flat ground just to the grind line.

Bi Directional Texturing -
A texture molded into an FRN handle, which is a series of graduating, sized forward and backward steps that radiate outward from the center of the handle. This texture provides resistance to slipping and sliding when gripped in the hand.

Ambidextrous -
Using both hands with equal ease. Pertaining to knives, it is a knife that is not solely designed for a left or right handed person but can be used with equal ease by both hands.

I have finally had to replace my 7 year old endura and have chosen to buy another. Sharp as hell and very compact and handy, everything a knife should be.

This knife won a top ten award a few years ago, going up against knives costing hundreds of dollars. I've carried one for eleven years, now I carry two. Very sharp blade, keeps it's sharpness, opens very easily, and can be opened silently one handed if necessary. Available full or partial serrated. I prefer the partially serrated blade.

this is a great knife, but it is not the 3rd gen endura shown in the pic, it is actually the 4th gen, whitck means it has a few upgrades that include volcano grip handle, steel liners and actually weight 5oz not 3oz like in description. i do love this knife and will make it my EDC blade!! thanks ctd!!
