After trying to fit this by a good amount of filing & milling, it was still too long and would not line up to the reciever pin. Poor manufacturing. NcStar needs to check their dimensions. You shouldn't have to machine as much as is needed to fit. Not recommended at all.

Was very hesitant. I knew I wanted a very tight fit. I kinda knew there was some filing needing to be done and I liked that because I knew, if done right, I could make the fit super tight. Took about an hour, only because I tried to be methodical. Once I got it very, very close, where the pin would not quite go in. I gave it a few light taps with a hammer and some wood. That was just enough to get the pin in and have the fit so freaking tight you would not need to worry about any scope movement. I give 4 bullets, only because the work needed to be done, but on the other hand, that work is what kinda makes this such a good fit! It also has the four extra screws, which are not needed by any means, but I tightened/used them anyway!

Love this spent 5 minutes fitting it to the receiver, and it works great. This is on my 1955 Yugo SKS. You can still use open sights. Great product, fully recommended. I will buy more in future to build more SKS.

I bought this to replace an old scope mount that came with my SKS that wouldn't let me use the iron sights. I didn't like the thought of not being able to use the iron sights if the scope (which was useless and came with the gun and went right into the toolbox afterwards) had malfunctioned. This works really well for what I paid for it. It does require metal work and you may need to file the bracket things on the side that screw on for a tight fit. The brackets may be too tight for the gun, but filing them will fix that

First, I did not give this mount five bullets because it is not a refined product. The base of the mount is a cast piece so there are burrs and pockmarks. That being said, the rails, which you mostly see once installed, are smooth blued metal and are very nice. And it is a functional piece once the necessary filing is done. If you’re looking for drop in pieces sell your SKS and buy a 10/22. SKS's are not all made the same and as such after-market parts generally require fitting; this piece is no exception. The directions recommend that you carefully file the prongs at the front of the mount until it fits properly. In my case I had to file the inside of the tangs where the set screws are before I could fit it over the outside edge of the frame (about 10 minutes of light filing) . Once I was able to get the mount to sit flush I could see that the retainer pin was about 1/8 of an inch off the center of the hole in the mount. I decided to file the hole instead of filing the front prongs as per the directions (I never was very good at following directions) because there is more room for error. After about 20 minutes of careful filing and constantly checking the fit the pin slid in snugly. I would not recommend this course of action if the pin hole is more off center than 1/8 of an inch. The knob on the pin will not line up with the grove in the mount if you go over too far. I removed the rails to protect them from scratches while I was worked on the part. I put red loctite on the two screws when I re-installed the rails and it looks good. More importantly, it is rock solid. No wiggle in any way. I removed the set screws because I did not need them but they seem very functional. Four screws with locking nuts. You are able to use the iron sights through the mount. I recommend this product. I consider SKS’s to be working guns and it is likely that your SKS is not in mint condition so this part, IMHO, will not detract from the look of your gun. And I wrote this lengthy review to try and help avoid mistakes that can make the mount loose or inoperable, not to discourage you from buying it. With a little bit of patience this part will be a very effective addition to your rifle.
