This mount is a "close but no cigar" type of idea. In theory, it should work. However, the screws that replace the pin holding the rear sight to the block are next to useless. They broke off easily. After drilling out the mount and using the original pin to secure it to the sight block, and using copious amounts of red LocTite, it worked for 120 rounds of surplus ammo. It never gave great groups; just about 4", no matter what I tried. After that, it came totally loose. I remounted my scope to the actual dovetail on the barrel under the sight block and now the 91/30 shoots right at 1.5 in. This mount just flexes too much and does not offer a solid enough platform, no matter what you do.
