This item was a complete waste of money. I own a number of rifles and I am comfortable with all but the most complex of gunsmithing tasks. I also realize that the fitment specs on AK-47 style rifles are not terribly good. Having said that, this item is worthless. Do not waste your money. The instructions in step three clearly state that one might have to remove some material with a hand file to get the right fit. After several hours of work, it was clear to me that this item was never going to fit well enough to provide a stable scope mounting platform.

For this price, this is pretty much what you would expect. First, the instructions indicate that you will have to modify the piece. That being said, the first thing to check is the size of the latch hole. Next, you should check the length. If necessary, you can file down the length and/or increase the opening for the latch. Also, you may need to file down the welded-in nuts for the two stabilization bolts on the rear of the cover. After you have made enough modifications (and repainted it) so that the cover now fits your rifle, you should know that the front will move up and down, as there is no way to keep it snugly it in place. It is clearly not a precision-made part.
