2.0 Rating BOLT ACTIONS ONLY - 4/18/2012
Reviewer: Navy Matt
I recently purchased a case of this ammo and got mixed results. From my Savage FCM-10 Scout bolt action, this 7.62x39mm Zombie version worked great. Extremely accurate. But when I tried the same rounds from my Yankee Hill Machine Black Diamond AR-15 in the same caliber, I experienced multiple misfeeds. To try and determine what was going on, I immediately tried some Wolf brand steel-case 7.62x39mm. Same gun, same magazines. That stuff functioned flawlessly. I switched back to Hornady and experienced the same constant misfeeds. Both types are steel cased. The only real difference is the Hornady Zombie ammo has a green plastic tip. I think the plastic tip is the cause of the problem, and it is hanging up on the feed ramp or something like that. Bottom line is, before you buy a case of this stuff, try out a single box or two. Make sure it functions in whatever you are going to shoot. Don't wait until the Zombies are at the door to find out your AR is a single-shot! Matt
