A boat tail bullet is a rifle bullet with a truncated conical shape at the base of the bullet. The boat tail bullet is streamlined to stabilize the bullet and increase accuracy. Full metal jacket bullets are a military round specified by the Geneva Convention. Metal surrounds a lead or steel core to prevent additional mushrooming of the bullet, which may cause inhumane wounding. Full metal jacket bullets usually have a lead exposed base.
