.30-30 Winchester Hornady LeverEvolution Centerfire Rifle Cartridge, 160 Grain Evolution Ballistic Flex Tip Bullet, 2400 fps, 20 Rounds Per Box

2046 ft/lb.s muzzle
2150 fps at 100 yards
1643 ft/lbs. at 100 yards
1916 fps at 200 yards
1304 ft/lbs. at 200 yards

The bullets look like Hornady's SST bullets but are specifically designed for tubular magazine applications. Hornady overcame the dangers of accidental discharge by using a polymer tip pliable enough to mush against the primer but stiff enough not to deform in flight.

20 rounds per box. To buy a full case, order 10 boxes.

LEVERevolution is the most exciting thing to ever happen to lever gun ammunition. Hornady, the leader in ballistic technology, brings you an innovation in ammunition performance featuring state of the industry patented, FTX (Flex Tip eXpanding) bullets that are SAFE in your tubular magazine. Its higher ballistic coefficient delivers dramatically flatter trajectories for fantastic downrange energy increases and amazing bullet expansion at all ranges. It truly is an evolution in lever gun ammunition!

Up to 250 feet per second faster muzzle velocity than conventional lever gun loads.
Exceptional accuracy and overwhelming downrange terminal performance.
Patented FTX bullet featuring Flex Tip Technology.
Up to 40% more energy than traditional flat point loads.

The innovative LEVERevolution bullet design may require a newer magazine follower to provide best possible functioning of the last round out of the magazine. These magazine followers may be purchased from the manufacturer of your firearm. For optimum performance we do not recommend storing LEVERevolution ammunition in tubular magazines for extended periods, as this can result in tip deformation.

4.0 Rating Excellent with a caveat - 9/21/2008Ammo .30-30 Winchester Hornady LeverEvolution FTX 160 Grain 20 Round Box 2400 fps4.0000

Yes...I would agree with many that this ammunition lives up to its reputation and ballistics claims. However, there is a characteristic peculiar to the .30-30 LeverEvolution that needs addressing. Using my new (and newly scoped) Marlin 336C, I set up a systematic test firing of the following commercial ammo: a. Rem - 170 - SP, b. Win - 150 Pwr. Pnt., c. Federal 170 SP, d. LeverEvolution. This test was conducted after a reasonable break-in of the new bore. A bench rest was utilized. What I found was that the Rem, Win, and Fed, all performed within the tolerances of their specified ballistics - each ammo interchangeable within the scope's 100 yard setting (+ of - 2"). The LeverEvolution, while very consistent performed way outside the impact point of the other ammo. It consistently impacted high and left. The LeverEvolution required its own setting of the scope to impact at center. Once the scope was set for this ammo it impacted consistently at 100 and even 200 yds. What does all this mean? Just this...if you plan on using LeverEvolution in the Marlin 336 bore, setup for that ammo at the begiining of the season and shoot only that ammo. Do not switch to other manufacturers without re-sighting. We all know that some ammo is interchangeable within the ballistic tolerances specified. LeverEvolution is not (in my experience) interchangable readily with Win., Rem., and Fed. Perhaps this is a twist rate issue. Perhaps a metallurgical issue with the jacket as it moves down the bore. Maybe you have other insights. Enjoy your hunt.
5.0 Rating Extended range is right! - 7/6/2008Ammo .30-30 Winchester Hornady LeverEvolution FTX 160 Grain 20 Round Box 2400 fps5.0000

I switched from 170 grainers to the Evolution to benefit from the extended range and flattened trajectory. First off, I chronographed the 160 Evolution out of my Marlin 336 at 2290fps (out of a 20" barrel). I sighted in 3" high and found it to be about 2" low at 200 yards and 13" low at 300 yards. This is serious improvement over the 170 grainer which is over 22" low at 300 yards, the way I had it sighted in. On a pig, last month, at a paced 170 yards, I held on the shoulder and down he went from the shot. Got up, went about 15 yards and dropped again, dead. That's fast for those tenacious pigs. Bullet went through and not recovered. No major bone hit. I'm very happy with it's performance and price. I just got some for my XLR 45-70 to prep for a Bear hunt in the Fall.

Great stuff ! always have used Remington core locks in my Marlin 336 but now use 30.30 LeverEvolution. Killed a Nice 8 point with my daughter by my side opening morning. Animal ran about 70 yards. A doe dropped in its tracks at 100 yards the next morning. It great ammo and shoots well in my rifle!!
5.0 Rating Five whitetails testify to LeverEvolution - 2/17/2008Ammo .30-30 Winchester Hornady LeverEvolution FTX 160 Grain 20 Round Box 2400 fps5.0000

I hunted with Hornady LeverEvolution for the first time in fall 2007. I shot five deer with it and all were one shot kills. Two dropped on the spot, two ran less than thirty yards, and only the biggest, toughest buck made it about 80 yards before piling up. I love the effectiveness *and* the trajectory of this ammo. I'm a convert and will be using this in my Marlin 336 30-30 lever gun from now on!
5.0 Rating Best 30-30 ammo - 1/24/2008Ammo .30-30 Winchester Hornady LeverEvolution FTX 160 Grain 20 Round Box 2400 fps5.0000

Before this ammo came out, I used a Ruger Mini-30, 7.62x39. When I heard about the Evolution rounds, I did a little more research on ballistic characteristics and the numbers said that this round made a 30-30 at least equal to that Mini-30. After reading all that good stuff about it I bought a Marlin 30AS and tried this stuff out. I was absolutely not disapointed. It might be just my imagination, but in the field this ammo seemed to out-perform the 7.62x39 by a pretty good margin. And it definitely has the knock-down power. Deer hunting in north central Nebraska in 2006 at 150 yds and in 2007 at 260yds, one shot dropped Bambi where he stood, we think the second one might have even spun him 90 degrees. I've used flat and round nose ammo since for practice and there really is no comparrison. This ammo is awsome and has even garnered some admiration from those .270 and .30-06 guys.
