|Purchased the basic stamped receiver AK-47 last year. Made it a project to clean up the bare wood. Came across a few recommendations and purchased Tru-Oil through CTD.
Tru-Oil goes on in very thin coats. I used nine coats on my stained stock and left it to dry in one day intervals. The finished work looks great, but takes some personal dedication and reserve to get there. From my experience, I recommend three coats, then steel wool after coats 4 and 5. Sand with 1500 grit on the 6 or 7th coat. Continue with steel wool for a few additional coats. Top coat gets hand buffed with a very fine polish (automotive is an easy choice). Clean up polish, wax the surface. You'll be impressed.|
