I bought this as a cheap solution to an expensive problem. However, I could not install it on my wife's 870 Express Tactical, which has a +2 extension from the factory. Reason being the endcap of a standard 870 shouldn't have a flange if it uses the plastic ratchet/retainer. The 870 Tactical does have a flange to engage the ball detent, and the recess cut into the attachment is too small and doesn't allow the extension end cap to self-center. All was not lost since it works perfectly on my 870 clone (IAC Hawk 982). It will also work on my wife's 870 Express Field, which uses the plastic ratchet insert in the mag tube, but that's her trap gun, so it kind of useless. Just thought I would mention that.
