Bought this to mount BUIS on front of wife's Bushmaster after they told me I'd have to change the gas block or forend. Attached rail extending 1-1/2" past front of hand guard, over gas block and mounted Magpul BUIS (also from CTD) in front slot, over the block. Turned down front sight about two turns and sights are perfect with red dot and co witness. She loves it! Mounted under heat shield w/no problem. Mount is strong with no movement. Thanks, CTD. Came fast, too.

I bought this because I only wanted to mount a foregrip and didn't want the weight of a rail system. It mounts very securely. I had to tap in all 3 nuts with a mallet, so I'm positive it isn't going to come loose. When I reinstalled the heat shield, all of the tabs except one of the forward ones locked back in. This is an excellent option if you only want to mount one or two accessories and don't want the weight or the cost of a full rail system.
