4.0 Rating Bought for rework - 11/10/2012ProMag M1 Carbine Magazine .30 Carbine 10 Round Blue4.0000
Reviewer: W. J. Stewart, ETC USN Retired.
I bought these magazines to see if they were capable of being cut and re-welded to make 10 round single stack .45 Winchester Magnum magazines. Unfortunately for me, they are made to a shortened overall length and will not allow rework to fit my intended purpose. They do function quite well in my USGI unmodified Carbine, so all is not lost. I would recommend these magazines as a good, functional magazine for anyone who also lives in a capacity limiting state that allows 10 round magazines. They are formed and welded differently from the WW2 era magazines. The front rib is a folded single layer of steel and the magazine body is welded along the center back flat to close the assembly, resulting in a stiff, solid body that holds shape well in use.
1.0 Rating fell apart in 3 shots, two clips - 11/28/2011ProMag M1 Carbine Magazine .30 Carbine 10 Round Blue1.0000

I bought these in NY because I needed 10 rd clips. Well I got two, and BOTH of them had the bottom plate fall off in the first 5 shots. After that, I could not fire more then 3 rounds without them coming apart. I know I can modify them but the point is out of the box they are garbage. They also jammed up when only a couple rounds were loaded (spring tension I'm guessing). Very unhappy with this purchase.
1.0 Rating Junk, like I already knew... - 9/23/2011ProMag M1 Carbine Magazine .30 Carbine 10 Round Blue1.0000

Well, I know ProMag's garbage reputation, and was dumb enough to hope these would be different. I think ProMag has some kind of monopoly/conspiracy to supply 10 rd. mags to those of us unlucky enough to live in Kaliforniastan... I could not find any other supplier of 10 rounders, and so ordered this junk. Range today with my Plainfield para, and the springs are so weak that the 7th or 8th round jammed every time. Also, baseplates wiggled forward 1/2 inch every mag-load. Yeah, if I change the springs, they may not suck horribly, but until that day, they do indeed suck like Vanilla Ice. Looks like I will be hitting the gun show soon:(
