3.0 Rating Witness/CTD Review - 10/25/2012
Reviewer: Barry
Ok I start with the cons since that's usually the first thing we notice. First of all its a 17 round magazine, not an 18. For CTD to advertise this on the specs, making it one higher capacity than most high capacity pistols (18+1 sounds great right), it's false advertisement and the main reason for my 3/5 review. Soon as I got to the FFL I was instantly disappointed, you don't get the cool hard case with combo locks that you've seen other people get when they purchased this gun for the same price. Right out of the box I was again disappointed because of some of the bluing had already been coming off on the: Slide catch lever, front sight post, and along the lip where the slide fits in with the lower receiver. Not a huge deal about the finish but it definitely doesn't put the icing on the cake. Alright now for the pros. It feels really solid and fully loaded its heavy, especially when I switch from my glock and back. It has a good feel and balance to it, I have the hogue grip for it but I haven't installed it yet. Hammer is easy to pull back with shooting thumb. Fully adjustable sights and trigger is a plus. Now for the range. I fired about 100 rounds, all in 5 shot groupings. Trigger felt great, under pull was right on. I might tweak with it to see if I can get some of the release distance out of it. It did have two malfunctions. It was failure to feed both times. I'm blaming it on the hopes that it just needs a bit of a break in period. I did wipe it down pretty dry after I took it apart (factory grease and oil was generous) and didn't bother to oil any contact points. I guess I'm just use to my Glock. But overall I like this pistol. All my friends like it. My fellow veteran buddy shot better with it than he did his Kimber 1911 (he wont admit that tho haha)
