4.0 Rating Came as expected - 8/10/2012
Reviewer: minerran
Rifle came as expected and in perfect condition. Have not shot it yet, but these are known to sometimes have issues out of the box and require a gunsmith tuneup, so I will see. My gunsmith recommends brass ammo only and says Sellier & Bellot works well in them. This is the only WWII-style (horizontal foregrip) Thompson that I know of which accepts BOTH stick and drum mags. I think the others only accept sticks. Also, beware that a couple of the pictures of Thompsons (don't remember which) don't match the actual rifle. I remember one showed the WWII-style, but when I went to the AO website, it was the "gangster" model with vertical foregrip, so beware. CTD does put a disclaimer that the pic might not match the item, but they really should fix that. Do your homework before buying any firearm off the internet. I have seen some reviews here (ex. a person purchased a 9mm revolver and complained about needing moon clips) that shows no homework was done. Also, know that this rifle is extremely heavy at 13 lbs UNLOADED. Don't buy it as a self defense rifle. CTD has better choices here in that regard. Buy it for the novelty, shooting fun, and collectability only, as I did. I am giving this 4 bullets instead of 5, because the cheap Chinese black sling (I assume AO did this and not CTD) is junk and won't even fit the gun. I am throwing it away.
