The Adams Arms Gas Piston System is an end user installed aftermarket product for Mil-Spec AR rifles and carbines. It will fit on any AR barrel with a .750" or 3/4" diameter at the shoulder where the front sight base sits.

The Carbine version will work on barrel lengths from 10.5" to 16" that have an existing carbine gas system.
The Mid Length version will work on barrel lengths from 16" to 18" that have an existing mid length gas system.
The Rifle version will work on barrel lengths from 18" to 24" that have an existing rifle gas system.

I wanted to make my AR as reliable as possible, as well as simple to maintain. This kit was very easy to install. It came with a mini DVD that had a step by step process for installation. My only complaint (and why only four bullets) is that I could no longer use my railed fore grip. Will be purchasing one that will fit in the future. Put about 150 rounds through it and haven't needed to make any adjustments, and the bolt appears like it was just cleaned. Also, the gas is expelled away from you and doesn't burn your eyes.

I bought this because I am obsessed with making my Smith & Wesson M&P15 a reliable, end of the world gun. It was very easy to install. Comes with a DVD with a video that, I believe, even the most novice gun guy can understand. Had the whole thing installed in about 30 minutes. Ran about 100 rounds through it and checked everything. It all seems great. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to make their AR run cooler, more reliably, and cleaner.
