Belt is thin, but not thin enough to be a wimpy belt. Belt is made with webbing which is flat tightly knitted nylon, if you didn't know. It wont stretch or shrink and sharp objects will have a hard time piercing it. The plastic buckle is also thick and could probably hold against 100lb AT MOST. I wouldn't primarily use this to tie something down but if you'd have to, you could. As cheap as it is. For the price you get the best you can.
