I target shoot most of the time and try different or difficult shots and found these rounds to be the best at shooting dimes taped on edge against the target. Of course it doesn't split the dime entirely on edge, but they penetrate it pretty good. That's at 40 yards, good fun when you're bored.

we tested all 17 hmr 20g bullets in ballistics gel and in the field. this is a rank that we gave the 20g bullets for overall performance 1 hornady 20 g xtp great penetration and bullet expantion. 2 cci 20g gamepoint pretty much same just not as good as xtp 3 cci 20g fmj if you are looking for a very deep penetrating bullet with some mushrooming this is the best bullet.4 winchester 20g hp this bullet penetrated very well but it also separated the jacket would shed off at impact or a couple inches in but the lead core would continue to penetrate witch is o.k. In the field you need to be the judge we had great results in all 20g bullets. we were having trouble killing coon with 17g bullets so we switched to 20g and got way better results all will work well as far as getting a kill shot but some group better than others in our rifles you need to test that for yourself. i hope this info helps to choose the right bullet.. cob
