Solvent does a knock out job of revitalizing a barrel in my Ruger P-95 9x19MM. Weapon sat for many months with the factory gunk in the barrel. Hoppes Elite BoreSnake kit did the trick. Two short blasts were enough to get the barrel dripping wet and I pulled the snake through once and it was "clean enough to eat off". I couldn't believe it so I did it twice more with out seeing any glaring improvements. One and done cleaning folks. Can't beat that with a stick. Oil is quite viscous, though it will inevitably move some if for example you oil the rails in a handgun, even lightly, and put that gun away in a vertical position for storage. May consider buying the solvent and then Hoppes grease individually in the bulk packs sold here. Handy carry pouch is useful as well.
