These worked EXACTLY as corbon advertised in my test. I used Denim, and milk jugs filled with water to test for expansion and penetration. All 8 of the rounds I tested in my HK P7 expanded very uniform to each other, even when tested on up to 10 layers of denim. I now know I can trust my loved ones', and my life with these. These are perfect for your concealed carry, or night stand gun.

DPX rounds are an excellent choice. My good friend and colleague John Farnam, one of if not the absolute best instructors in our business has used DPX rounds for taking dangerous big game. They have never failed. As defense rounds, penetration and expansion are both excellent. There is no jacket to shed, unlike non bonded H.P. rounds which often fail due to either fragmentation or jacket/core separation. Despite the typical gaping and deep Corbon cavity, DPX bullets are known not to plug when piercing heavy and/or multiple clothing layers; expanding in soft tissue after barrier penetration. DPX rounds do not typically flatten into a mushroom. Instead, they expand with a significant shaft driving them into the target. The velocity of the DPX designs are lower than that of Corbon's non DPX line, some of which, even Pow Ur Ball fragment. The balance of velocity and mass seems to have come very close to perfection in the DPX design as does the metallurgy of the copper, unlike earlier copper designs of the 1980's which by and large were dismal failures. Expensive, yes. But ask yourself one question? What is my life worth? Buy DPX for self defense and compromise elsewhere. With DPX, you get what you pay for and what you pay for is excellence in design and manufacture.

As Gunner stated this is fantastic defensive ammo. I performed a test much as he did with the same results. The expansion is very impressive. I'm a retired police office as well as a range officer for many years and this is the best ammo I have ever used. I now use this ammo in my defensive guns. Also CTD has the best price on this high quality ammo.

I bought this round in 9mm for self defense. I am very impressed. Recoil is not bad and it is very accurate. The copper round is a big plus for defensive purposes. I also bought this round in 110 grains in .38 Special for my wife and she shot to point of aim and dead on accurate at 7 yards after just a couple of rounds. Highly recommend both.

In thirty years of law enforcement I've kept track of all the new innovations in ammo design over the years. I've been a range officer for many years and tested ammo of all types over that time. We not only used gelatin but other more common materials you would encounter in a real shooting situation. I tested this load using water jugs and recovered the copper bullets which expanded to a diameter twice the original size. I also placed a piece of thick leather along with two heavy shirts one of which was an old worn out wool shirt. I placed them against a fairly stiff surface to approximate the resistance of a human body. The rounds fired went through the three heavy materials and expanded perfectly retaining 100% of the bullets weight. The rounds also penetrated into the third milk jug behind the medium tested against. Granted this is not a true scientific test but for the purpose of determining suitability of this round for defense use in winter it was certainly good enough and then some. The rounds were fired from a Sig 225 with a 3.9 inch barrel which most likely decreased the muzzle velocity about 50 to 75 fps since the barrel is a bit shorter than most length barrels used in testing. I've now started carrying this ammo on a daily basis and would encourage anyone wanting an effective defense round to consider this load.

Some people do not realize how much a copper bullet is better compared to a lead or lead based bullet. If you do your research you will find out that copper bullets expand a lot better and a lot quicker then lead bullets. Some bullets are copper plated but there is always a chance of the copper tearing away before penetration. Copper bullets are also better at holding there weght upon expansion . This Cor-Bon DPX round and Magtech's personal Defense round are the best to go with if you are looking for expansion. Taurus also makes a .45 ACP round that is solid copper hollow point if you are a .45 ACP person. In order to have good expansion, velocity is a must. That is why I do not shoot a whole lot of bigger calibers. If the bullet is not going fast enough, it will not expand which defeats the purpose of buying a hollow point. There are many lead bullets that I use and love so do not think that I am biased.
