I have used mostly Cor-Bon and Golden Saber 185 gr. self defense rounds, but wanted a slightly heavier bullet, deeper penetration with a heavier bullet all other things being equal - but still with decent velocity. This is a good compromise between slower and heavier 230 gr. and lighter, but faster, 185 gr. +P. The energy level is up near the 185 gr. Cor-Bon +P (494 ft lbs versus 543 ft lbs at the muzzle). I did not notice much difference in recoil in the full size 1911 I carry. It has energy that knocks the bad guy down. These were flawless in feeding during my test of one box before ordering three more.
