So far this is the best balance of power and pattern out of my NEF single shot full-choked .410. It will out-penetrate lower velocity 7.5 loads on steel cans to 30 yards, and will put 23 - 33 centered hits on 8.5 by 11 paper at 30 yards. At 35 yards only Federal's 3" 7.5 load will pattern better out of my gun, but at 30 or less the penetration advantage of the 1300 fps Winchester is noticeable. Strangely, I do not get good patterns out of the #8 shot 1300 fps Sporting Clays load. I don't know if the high velocity deforms the smaller pellets more out of a full-choked gun but there is a clear pattern difference. I see this as a good crow load to 35 yards, rabbit and squirrel to 30.
