KA-BAR Black Tanto Knife -
The Tanto blade shape, of Asian influence, has a thick pointed blade that's good for penetration. Coupled with a glass filled nylon sheath this knife is designed for the toughest of tasks.

Serrated Blade -
A serrated blade has a cutting edge that has many small points of contact with the material being cut. By having less contact area than a smooth blade, the applied force at each point of contact is relatively greater and the points of contact are at a sharper angle to the material being cut.

Tanto Blade -
This knife blade was inspired by the shape of the Japanese sword blades. The point to this style blade is in line with the spine of the blade. The tanto has a reinforced point which is thick and strong and is good for heavy duty stabbing cuts.

1095 Steel -
This knife is easy to sharpen, plain carbon steel used in knife making. It's proven to be one of the most popular steels used in KA-BAR knives.

Kraton G Thermoplastic Elastomer -
Referred to simply as Kraton, is a man made material resembling rubber that can be molded into knife handles. Knife provides a non slip grip.

Glass Filled Nylon -
Material used to make sheaths. Nylon is reinforced with glass particles and other materials to provide strength and durability while still allowing some flexibility.

Hollow Ground -
The ground surface of the blade is concave and used to create a fine cutting edge.

5.0 Rating Best thing we sent to IRAQ - 10/9/2007
Reviewer: PATRIOT
Last year we sent (2) Ka-bar Tantos to our soldier friend stationed in Iraq with the Connecticut National Guard. He told us that the Kabars were the best thing we sent over , so I bought myself one too!

5.0 Rating kbar - 9/14/2008
Reviewer: Kevin
I bought this knife based on the K-bar reputation and I have not been disappointed. It is a great high quality knife. The only tiny complaint would be the sheath is about an inch longer than it has to be for this already long 8" inch blade. Other than that it is pretty much perfect.

4.0 Rating Pretty Good - 2/3/2009
Reviewer: Grizzly Bears
i got mine one day early. good knife. much longer in person. my only complaint so far is the straps on the sheath. you have to strap them pretty tight, which is kind of annoying. also, you don't need them as the knife locks into the sheath, and you can't remove them, so they end up dangling. the sheath is plastic or something synthetic, but it feels as solid and heavy as metal. also, i heard that it was adjustable so you could carry it in different positions, but it looks like you can only carry from the belt, unless you strap it to something

5.0 Rating A knife for need - 2/9/2009
Reviewer: Anomadic1
Bought two of these; shipped one to one son in Iraq and the other to my other son in Afganistan. Sharpened the top edge before I sent them out. It really increases the "WOW" factor and my "troops" liked the increased utility/lethality. It's USA MADE, NOT CHEAP CHINESE JUNK! IT'S A KBAR FOLKS!!! THE NAME SPEAKS FOR ITSELF!!!

5.0 Rating Excellent survival knife - 6/23/2009
Reviewer: smcdonaldaz
I bought mine because I knew the Ka-Bar name from my military days. Last February, while javelina hunting, I scored a huge boar a few miles from camp. This knife made quick work of a 5" diameter tree that lashed him to and drug him back. 8" may seem big, but the smaller blade in my situation would not have been nearly as effective. Buy USA, Ka-Bar!
