4.0 Rating Bright Sights - 8/23/2012Browning Buck Mark Fire Sight Fiber Optic Sight Set4.0000

The sights pick up more light that I thought they would. Works great at the range & in the woods. The only problem I had while mounting the rear sight was that the channel the detent spring sits in is slightly shorter than the original and the spring was too compressed to be usable. Rather than cutting the original, I replaced it with an anti-reverse dog spring from a Penn 113H fishing reel, perfect fit and less than a buck. That's the only reason it didn't get 5 bullets. Just remember, these are not night sights so don't expect them to glow in the dark.

I've shot about 300 rounds through my Buck Mark with these sights so far on an indoor range, and I like the smaller rear sight notch but hate the lack of a positive windage adjustment. After painstakingly sighting the windage in from 5 to 25 yards, over a hundred rounds in bench rested groups, I finally had it dead nuts accurate and went to offhand shooting. After another 30 rounds my groups started wandering to the right. I thought it might need another tweaking, but found that the windage screw had shot loose and the dovetail was sliding all around. I put some blue loc-tite on the end of the windage screw and let a little get on the dovetail base, but had a heck of a time loosening it for subsequent re-sighting. The Buck Mark is accurate enough to drive tacks if you get the sights right. The gun deserves the best sights you can put on it. I carry my Buck Mark in a fanny pack and worry about the windage sliding, or being pushed off true. I wish they would have just put the extra effort into a decent 'clicking' windage adjustment screw.
