Can I BUY here?

Anyone who is legally allowed to own an item, is allowed to buy it here. The following information is not intended to be a complete guide to all applicable laws.

It is the buyer’s responsibility to be in compliance with all Federal, state, and local laws when using this site. Your local Federal Firearms Licensed (FFL) dealer is the expert on firearms laws in your area.

First and foremost, it is illegal for an individual to ship a firearm to an individual who is not a FFL dealer. An individual can ship a firearm to a FFL dealer providing the person shipping the firearm has a signed copy of the FFL dealer’s license prior to shipping the firearm.

Legal methods of sending a copy of the FFL dealer’s license include photocopy sent via mail, facsimile or e-mail scanned copies.

You do not have to be a FFL dealer to buy a firearm. If you are not a FFL dealer, you must make arrangements with a FFL dealer in your area to receive the firearm and then transfer the gun to you. FFL dealers include gun shops, pawn shops or gunsmiths who sell or distribute firearms. The buyer should make arrangements with a FFL dealer before placing a bid on a firearm. By contacting the FFL dealer before bidding, the buyer can verify the local, state and federal laws that apply to the buyer and firearm. For most firearms, the buyer must be able to pass a background check.

Cheaper Than Dirt.com/FreeAds has compiled a listing of FFL dealers in the United States. It is the buyer’s responsibility to contact a local FFL dealer that is willing to transfer the firearm to them. Most dealers will charge a nominal fee to perform the transfer. Contact your dealer for more information.

It is the in the buyer’s best interest to establish a relationship with a FFL dealer to avoid complications when buying a gun.

What does legally allowed to own a gun mean?

You must be an adult who is able to enter into a contract.

Anyone desiring to purchase a firearm must be able to pass a background check.

BATF web site for more information on background checks.

There are age limits on the sale of certain firearms and they are illegal in some localities - for example “assault weapons” cannot be sold in California and full auto machine guns require a special license.

The NRA also has put together an informative NRA Guide to Firearms State Laws

The BATF has compiled information on the various state laws; BATF state-by-state gun laws information.

Again, it is the buyer’s responsibility to make sure that he or she complies with city, state and federal laws. Illegal activity could quickly land you in prison, so check before you bid.

Some items, such as air guns, knives, ammunition, antique guns that were built in 1898 or earlier, and some gun parts, do not require a dealer license to purchase, but may be illegal in some localities. There are age restrictions on many of these items, and you may be asked to verify your age to the seller. You must be 18 years old to bid on items on this site. You must be at least 21 years old to buy ammunition and handguns.

If you have any questions or doubts about whether an item can be shipped to you, please contact your local FFL dealer, or research the item on the above mentioned web sites.

It is illegal to ship firearms between individuals!
