Subject: Horner, Miculek Win Back-To-Back 3GN Pro Events
By Chad Adams TULSA, OK – As Yogi Berra once famously said, “It’s like déjà vu all over again.” Both Daniel Horner and Lena Miculek picked up their second 3GN win of the season, cruising to victory after dominating performances at the U.S. Shooting Academy here Saturday. In the Pro Series, Horner picked up right where he left off in West Virginia in April, winning Stage 1 right out of the gate, one of three stage wins he used to build a 10-second lead going into the Stage 6 finale. There, in a moment where he really could have held back, Horner did anything but. His Stage 6 time of 24.14 was more than two seconds faster than the remaining Top 10 competitors. The win netted Horner a prize of $5,000 from Magpul, the match title sponsor on this second event of the 2013 3GN Pro Series Tour, presented by Federal Premium Ammunition.

MGM Targets’ Travis Gibson picked up a stage win on Stage 2, running a completely unique plan where his 38.83 bested the field by two seconds. SureFire’s Mike Voigt won what was arguably the most technically difficult stage of the match, a mirror-image, multi-port, condensed stage that could be shot a multitude of ways. But it was Voigt’s run that was fastest, topping Horner by a mere .02 seconds.

(l. to r.) Keith Garcia, Magpul's Drake Clark, Daniel Horner and Taran Butler following the finale stage.

Reigning 3GN Champion Keith Garcia remained the closest competitor to Horner this season, finishing second for the second consecutive match. Garcia picked up a $3,000 prize from Magpul. Taran Butler placed in the top three at a 3GN Pro Series match for the third time in two seasons, taking home a check for $2,000 from Magpul.

Voigt finished fourth, followed by West Chandler, Adam Popplewell, Kalani Laker, Greg Jordan, Clint Upchurch and Joel Turner.

In the 3GN Lady Pro Series, presented by Samson Manufacturing, Lena Miculek was again a notch above the field, her match time of 4:16:50 more than 25 seconds faster than her second place mother, Kay Miculek.

First-time 3GN Lady Pro competitor Randi Rogers, of Cowboy Action and pistol fame, was impressive in her 3GN debut. Her time of 4:49:41 edged out Team FNH USA’s Dianna Liedorff by more than two seconds.

SureFire’s Maggie Reese was fifth, followed by Sharon Griffin, Megan Snyder, Karla Herdzik and Deb Cheek.

The 3GN Pro Series and Lady Series Tour return to Tulsa’s US Shooting Academy June 22 for Event #3.
