Subject: .22LR ammo shortage
Is it hard to find 22LR ammo everywhere or is it just here in Oklahoma?

It's the same here in Upstate New York. Not just the 22's its every kind. If you do find them there is a 1 box limit. Its easier to find Russian ammo than it is U.S. Good luck finding them.

rebelokie- Here in Texas, as well! When I was reviewing the S&W M&P .22 pistol I had to beg coworkers for ammo. Fortunately, I got enough contributions to make a fair assessment.

About the only places I've found .22 LR lately are mom and pop gas stations out in the country where the hoarders dont go because the place dont carry enough to be of use to them and average Joe city/suburb dweller doesn know the gas station carries ammo. They also have a lot of the common deer hunting rifle and pistol cals like .243 win, .270 win,.30-30 WCF, .308 win, .30-06 springfield, .357 magnum, and .44 magnum. Of course they probably have less than half a dozen boxes of each so for hoarders its not worth the time and gass to drive like an hour each way to try and snag a box or 2.

Not hard, impossible!  There is none in local stores, and Walmart hasn't had handgun ammo for months.  My local gun shops get a few boxes of handgun ammo at a time, but it's rare and expensive.@import url(;

Finding ammunition does not seem to be a problem on the CTD site...just found a brick of 500 for ONLY $199.79. Wow!

I'm in Washington State, East of the mountains. I haven't seen any 22LR, or for that matter, any 22 wmr, 22 shorts or longs on any store shelves in 3 months. I've seen bricks of 500 selling at auction for $100-$150 and then you still have to pay shipping. No Way.  I've got a few bricks I bought a couple of years ago, I've just curtailed my shooting and target practice. I hope we get some ammo soon. The only thing I can get here is some shotgun shells, I already have 3 boxes of 12 gauge. Of course the shotgun is not a target tool, so it doesn't get practiced or shot much.

In Western Washington (the blue part of the state), there's no .22LR around anywhere. There are people who have staked out the Walmarts and Fred Myers stores when shipments are due and if there are is .22LR, 5.56 (.223), 7.62(.308), 9mm, .40, .45ACP ammo in it they buy what they can and call out a group of friends (depending on the size of the shipment) to buy the rest for them. It's all gone within a few minutes. I got this from talking to the customer service people in the sporting goods depts. in those stores. Also, they don't jack up the prices like some dealers do. About 2 weeks ago I was able to buy online (use a 325rnd box of Federal 40gr AutoMatch for $17.95 (limit 1)but had to pay $18 for shipping. Still, there are some online suppliers who don't gouge and those are the ONLY ones I'll be buying from in the future. That goes for ALL items, not just ammo. The online and B/M stores who have been jacking up the prices to sometimes 10X the regular price have lost me as a customer for ANYTHING they'll be selling in the future.
