Subject: Anybody Collecting Knives?

I got bored the other day. It was raining slow and steady with no sign of letting up, so I wandered around the house, gathered up most of my fixed blades and took a photo. Just curious to know if anyone else on here is collecting fixed blades.

An impressive collection. Well done. For me, however, if a knife isn't made to mount under the barrel of a rifle, I'll pass. Not being a hunter, I have no use for gut hooks and other specialized field-dressing blades. But for all other general purposes I have found the AK-47 bowie-bladed bayonet to be a perfect outdoorsy accessory. It is sized right, extremely sharp, saw-tooth back, and when assembled with the scabbard, an effective wire cutter. Naturally, it's also a fine bayonet, and mounting upside down the way it does, looks especially vicious. The bayonet for my CETME/FR8 Mauser is also kinda cool - with it's bolo shaped blade. It also has the advantage of fitting two different rifles. Enjoy.

Thanks horselips. I'm partial to the Bowie style blades myself and I've found I prefer the look and weight of damascus or high carbon steel over stainless. The knife in the photo that has the brass ring inlaid in the Olive wood handle, with the Bowie style damascus blade is one of my absolute favorites. The one with the 3 color bone handle and the almost Bolo style blade is a very close second.@import url(http://www.cheaperthandirt.com/Forums/CuteSoft_Client/CuteEditor/Load.ashx?type=style&file=SyntaxHighlighter.css);
